Conflict

The primary conflict of the book is the pressure of the Permian Panthers, the six leaders of the team, and Head Coach Gaines. How they have an entire town on their backs expecting them to win and go all the way to the championship. It was hard enough because they had lost one of their star players. But the people really felt if they didn't win it was because of head coach Gaines, which put him under a lot. Loosing one of his star players Boobie Miles and trying to please the people of the town.
